DAY SUPPORT
The Day Program at ECDC is based on utilizing the strengths and assets of the individuals enrolled. The program encompasses the ideas that fostering personal growth and community growth are invaluable.
Some of the personal skills that we focus on are communication, social interaction, and community volunteering. A main goal of ours is developing job skills using resume building, job search support, interview training, and job coaching.
Additionally we offer sensory activities which involve touch, smell, taste, hearing, and sight. One of our most personalized services is our sensory room which offers an array of both stimulating and non-stimulating lights, sounds, and soft surroundings to develop a sense of inner peace.
Our model revolves around 1:1 staffing which allows individuals to move towards the highest level of independence possible.
Adam Karasevicz – DIRECTOR OF DAY SERVICES

Adam started his career at Eastern Community Development Corporation (ECDC) in 2007 as a Residential Facilitator in the Gales Ferry home. Later that year, Adam transferred to the Laurel Glen home where he was promoted to the Residential Manager position.
Adam is always the first to step in and lend a hand wherever it is needed. This commitment to supporting others made him a flexible and dependable leader. His can-do, flexible attitude is what prepared him to successfully manage the following locations during his time as a supervisor, Laurel Glen residential home, Gales Ferry residential home, Day Program South, In-Home Supports, Pre-Vocational Education Program, Chapel Hill residential home, and Winthrop residential home.
In 2016, Adam assisted with ECDC’s growth and development by opening a new Continuous Residential Support (CRS) location. This offered the agency and two young men a new residential home.
In 2018, Adam was promoted to the Program Coordinator position. In this role he oversaw a handful of the agencies residential locations and was instrumental in the development of a school-based Transition Academy through the East Hampton, CT School District.
In 2020, Adam helped in leading a team that provided care, compassion, and advocacy to an individual during his final months with support that went above and beyond expectations. Their dedication earned ECDC the DDS Public-Private Partnership Award.
In 2024, Adam became the Director of Day Services. Thanks to Adam’s networking skills and his headfirst, can-do approach, we were able to successfully open our new Day Support Option (DSO) site in East Hampton, CT. Over the years Adam had worked closely with teachers, students, families, and local business owners, fostering positive relationships throughout the community. His dedication and enthusiasm became infectious, inspiring our supervisors and staff alike. What began as our Middle School Program grew into our Transition Program, which we continue to operate today, and expanded with the addition of DSO North and we are excited to announce our newest East Hampton addition of an Employment Center. It is easy to see why Adam was the first out of district award winner of the East Hampton School’s Good Apple Award in 2024.
Adam currently oversees all school programming, Day Services, In-Home Supports, Customized Employment Services, as well as Grants and Day Services referrals.
Adam holds certifications as a Physical and Psychological Management Training Coach, a CPR trainer, and a Customized Employment Specialist. Adam also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and is a Waterford High School graduate.
While not officially certified in filmmaking or 3D design, Adam has proudly taken on the role of our resident movie maker. He captures every fun activity turning even the most mundane tasks into lasting memories. He also loves a challenge, putting the agency’s 3D printer to work with our individuals, they are always creating an impressive (and ever-growing) collection of unique items.
When Adam isn’t at work, he is coaching on one of his kids’ sports teams, he is a proud dad of three awesome children (and two dogs). He loves the outdoors, The Red Sox, and is always a glass half full kind of guy.
